Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
The Manager, Organisational Development manages a portfolio of culture, workforce engagement, Change Management, Talent and Diversity & Inclusion related projects including the resources and accountability for delivery. You will provide strategic leadership of the design, development and implementation of workforce strategies (such as "ways we work") and frameworks to drive a high level of effectiveness across the ministry. You will understand both internal and external drivers for Te Puni Kōkiri and ensure the team is positioned to respond through the development and implementation of an appropriate organisational development work programme.
Over the next 12 months there are two key enterprise-wide projects (accommodation move and organisational change) that the Manager, Organisational Development will be responsible for the delivery of as a Change Manager for Te Puni Kōkiri.
You will also be responsible for the delivery of enterprise-wide workforce strategies that integrate and translate the work from across your team into innovative behavioural and capability lifting learning solutions for the ministry.
The Manager Organisational Development applies a people experience lens to every aspect of the team's work programme, ensuring solutions are employee centric and designed to create a positive work experience.
Mōu | About you
- A relevant degree; with equivalent level of experience (5-10 years') working in, Organisational Development programme management, human-centred design, and/or OD environment.
- In-depth knowledge of change management techniques and a deep understanding of effective change processes and tools.
- Desirable to have a qualification in change management (for example, CMI, APMG, ACMP, Prosci and/or Change Lean).
- Ability to influence and effectively engage with stakeholders across a wide range of professional disciplines to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Ability to operate strategically and develop trust and credibility with senior leaders.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate clearly at a senior level .
- Critical thinking, comfortable with experimentation, entrepreneurial mind-set.
- Extensive programme management ability: able to lead and empower teams to set up, review and close multiple projects across multiple workstreams, including giving teams the confidence to pivot or cease projects that are not delivering to anticipated outcomes.
- Have a broad understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognise the importance of the Treaty from both Māori and Crown perspectives.
- Are comfortable in a te ao Māori environment and are comfortable in situations where tikanga is observed.
- A level of competency in te reo Māori, or a willingness to learn.
