EHS Manager

As the **EHS Manager**, you will be based on-site at the PPG manufacturing site in **Auckland, NZ** but will also provide EHS support within New Zealand to all strategic business units and locations (training center, warehouse, commercial).
You will provide expert specialist advice, assistance, and leadership to all employees within the New Zealand business. Improve Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices and standards across the New Zealand sites. You will monitor and improve EHS's best practices in business operations through inspection, audit, investigation, and corrective action programs.
**Responsibilities**
- Lead the implementation of all relevant PPG Corporate EH&S compliance-based requirements and documents.
- Mentor and coach the site’s EHS Management System Element Owners.
- Ensure that the site meets all EHS regulatory and business-specific requirements, and flag potential non-compliances and issues.
- Establish and maintain an EH&S Training system.
- Ensure that all EH&S regulatory and business requirements are met, and potential non-compliance issues are flagged.
- Develop, drive, and manage Risk Assessment Programs so that legislative requirements are met.
- Actively try to improve safety and safety awareness through employee participation and engagement.
- Manage relevant audit items generated by internal and external auditors.
- Work with the Engineering Manager to manage the relationship with the PPG global insurers and compliance requirements.
- Manage the HSR committee and ensure regular safety meetings are held.
- Coordinate EHSLT meetings under the site EHS plan.
- Conduct and ensure (non-engineering/facility related) contractor safety inductions and safety inspections are completed.
- Support the implementation and management of the PPG Process Safety requirements.
- Ensure timely reporting of all incidents to PPG standards.
- Manage comprehensive investigation of all incidents to identify root causes and implementation of preventative measures to prevent any repeat incidents.
- Develop and maintain an injury prevention program including awareness and training.
- Assist work-related NZ Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) claims, light tasks, and return to work programs.
- Assist wellness initiatives for New Zealand.
- Support PSIT implementation for 3rd party vendors as part of the Product Stewardship process.
- Ensure that the Emergency Management Team is maintained and trained to fulfill their duties.
- Ensure that the annual Industrial Hygiene strategies are 100% completed and reviewed annually.
- Review and approve capital projects using the Management of Change (MOC) process and Authorizations for Capital Transactions (ACT) process from an EHS perspective with the intent of identifying impacts to New Zealand.
- Manage the EHS spend.
- Other employee training, compliance, and reporting tasks.
**Qualifications**
- A relevant tertiary qualification with similar industry experience.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with relevant EH&S Acts, policies, procedures, and Codes of Practice.
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Suite).
