**About the Role**:
Due to continued growth in our customer base, a full time, permanent position is available for a multi-skilled Diesel Technician to join the service team in our brand new workshop facility in Tauriko, Tauranga. This role reports to the Service Manager and will work closely with the Leading Hands to ensure the workshop runs smoothly and customer expectations are met.
The Tauranga branch and workshop is operational from 7am - 9pm Monday to Friday and rostered Saturdays by appointment. Applicants need to offer the flexibility to work weekly rotating dayshift hours (7.00am - 4.30pm) and afternoon shift (11.30am - 9pm). A generous afternoon shift allowance applies. Saturday work is scheduled from 7am - 12noon and this is on a rotating roster and attracts overtime payrates. There is a call-out roster that offers additional allowances and call-out payments. Technicians are guaranteed 45 hours of work per week Monday to Friday, and will be paid senior level hourly rates. The annual earning capacity including shift allowances ranges from $95,000 - $110,000+.
**The Diesel Technician will be responsible for**:
- Completing scheduled maintenance on customer vehicles
- Diagnosing, repairing and overhauling a range of truck components such as engines, transmissions, air systems and chassis
- Carrying out scheduled servicing and pre-COF checks across both our diverse range of premium brands and other OEM brands
- Electrical fault finding systems, repairing and maintaining electrical repairs
- Reconditioning, overhauling, assembling and rebuilding diesel engines
- Providing and communicating product assistance to a wide range of customers
- Completing job card and warranty paperwork as per company guidelines
- Assist with the ongoing development and training of other Penske technicians in order to extend their abilities including the mentoring of apprentices
**About You**:
You will be a Trade Qualified Mechanic/Heavy Diesel Technician (equivalent to NZQA Level 4) with a strong background in maintaining, servicing and repairing diesel engines. Specific experience working on MAN trucks and buses and/or Western Star trucks will be viewed favourably as will exposure to other OEM brands and/or Detroit Diesel, MTU, Cummins and Allison product lines. You will offer a minimum of five years of post-qualified experience within the heavy transport industry. In addition to this, you will offer practical working knowledge of the correct and safe operation of appropriate machinery, tools and equipment and you will be a team player who will adhere and promote the company's values & behaviours. Ideally you will hold some or all Heavy Transport licences, but support will be given to obtain these for the right applicant.
