It is an excellent opportunity to work alongside the newly appointed Director to lead and direct the delivery of dental hospital services to patients in one of the leading dental schools in the world.
**_Te mahi / The role_**
Reporting to the Director of the Dental Hospital, this position is responsible for providing clinical leadership and operational direction to the multidisciplinary teams within the Dental Hospital.
The role is well suited to a senior health care clinician with experience as a general or specialist dentist.
You will have experience in clinical supervision and program management and be comfortable leading and managing the provision of dental services over multiple sites.
You will lead the way in implementing clinical, operational, and administrative practices and work in partnership with the Director to launch a new operating model for wider delivery of hospital services.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead, manage, and deliver a range of clinical services that provide a quality-assured patient-centered model of care.
- Direct the clinical activities within the Dental Hospital and manage service contracts.
- Provide contemporary and comprehensive dental clinical services and treatment to deliver optimal patient outcomes, taking into account cost-effectiveness of treatment in decision making recognising the objectives of a contemporary teaching hospital.
- Proactively collaborate with key Māori and Pacific stakeholders to ensure services are relevant and continue to support health outcomes for Māori and Pacific people.
- Promote the Faculty’s efforts to understand and realise the letter and the spirit of the University’s Māori Strategic Framework, and te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Work in partnership with academic staff to integrate, contribute to, and support clinical experience for students; teaching, learning, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students; clinical research activities and the development of the future dental workforce.

**_Kā pūkeka me kā wheako / Skills and experience_**
You will likely be a senior healthcare clinician with previous experience providing generalist or specialist dental care. Ideally, you will have experience leading and managing teams and providing services in a medium-large sized organisation such as a public health sector dental clinic, hospital or similar environment.
You will have the experience required to implement and monitor service delivery goals, standards and performance measures to ensure effective clinical management of the Teaching Hospital within the Otago Faculty of Dentistry and on-going compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policy and guidelines.
- A tertiary level qualification in Dentistry.
- Significant clinical experience.
