**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

Do you want to prevent crime and harm, and contribute to making New Zealand (NZ) the safest country? As an intelligence professional in the NZ Police this will be your focus every day.

Intelligence is an indispensable enabler for NZ Police that touches on every part of what we do. Annually, Police Intelligence produces approximately 50,000 products. Some are short and tactically focussed, supporting day-to-day decisions. While other intelligence products are more in-depth with a longer-term focus aiding the development of long-term operational plans and organisational strategy.

As a Lead Intelligence Analyst, you will have proven expertise in the use of a range of analytical tools and methods to provide insight and foresight on complex problems and issues. You will be an adept and experienced written and verbal communicator, familiar in presenting to a wide range of Intelligence clients. You will use your advanced critical thinking and team-focused approach to coach others on best practice Intelligence tradecraft, support team development and foster a positive and productive team culture.

As a critical and innovative thinker who is enthusiastic and personable, you will be able to develop high trust and effective working relationships with our people, our leaders, key stakeholders, and partner agencies. You will bring a positive mindset to the team and lead collaboration between teams to achieve shared outcomes.

New Zealand Police are recruiting for multiple intelligence roles in multiple locations.

We are looking for people who are self-motivated, innovative, inquisitive, committed to excellence, resilient, and firmly focussed on enhancing decision-making within NZ Police.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Use analytical expertise, critical thinking, and crime science theory to conduct analysis of complex crime problems and policing issues and propose potential solutions.
- Manage competing priorities and demands to deliver timely, relevant Intelligence and achieve results for the team.
- Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools/methodology and coach more junior intelligence staff to develop their intelligence tradecraft.
- Develop and maintain a wide range of positive and effective partnerships (internal and external).
- Lead projects and groups to deliver required intelligence outputs.
- Provide regular peer review and, mentoring to more junior intelligence staff.
- Work independently on complex analytical problems.
- Contribute to the wider Police intelligence function through supporting the development of national standards and training.
- Consider and champion diversity, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all intelligence outputs.
