The Manager Employment Relations provides strategic support to the Chief People Officer and business, and leads a team of experts in providing high quality advice, insights, and guidance of all aspects of employment relations (ER).

**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
As our Manager Employment Relations, you will have opportunity to lead a newly formed ER team and create new ways of working that help MBIE create a positive and effective workplace environment for our kamahi. You will work closely with the Head of Employment Practices to embed our MBIE leader-led approach to employment relations and supporting processes and practices that build capability and empower our people leaders to identify and resolve employment issues early.
You will be a sound communicator with ability to engage and partner with the different business groups cross MBIE to progress initiatives and embed sustainable change. As part of this role, you will also:

- Introduce a suite of clear, consistent, and easy-to-follow people-centred policies, processes and practices
- Lead the team to share insights with business leaders to help them understand the impact of employee relations on culture, engagement and performance
- Provide information and insights to senior leaders to ensure they are kept up to date with strategic employee relations issues

We are looking for an individual with a depth of experience in ER, a sound understanding of the Public Sector, and the ability to lead and influence others.
- Further to this will also demonstrate the following:

- A deep understanding of all aspects of ER and experience developing and implementing ER strategies, frameworks, and policies
- An inspiring leader with ability to motivate and influence others to bring about significant change
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including senior management, employees, and union representatives
- Knowledge and experience of te ao Māori and te ao Māori practices; tikanga, te reo and a comprehensive understanding of the Treaty, Te Tiriti and the Treaty Principles
