The Government Property Group is accountable for the strategic leadership of the government’s office accommodation portfolio and provisioning for the centralisation of components of the government’s property function.
A project has been initiated to optimise Wellington government office accommodation and to achieve savings for the Crown. A key component of the project will be communications with government agencies and the wider property market, and ensuring appropriate change management frameworks and approaches are developed and implemented.
The Change & Engagement Lead is a result orientated, strategic, and influential role and is responsible for the end-to-end strategy for stakeholder management and communications and for identifying, assessing and mitigating the change-impact risks within the project’s direct sphere of influence. This includes the development of a change management framework (Currently PROSCI based) and that the project delivers the right messages, to the right people, in the right way, at the right time.

To be successful in this position you will have the following skills and experience:

- 5-7 years of experience in the development and implementation of engagement strategies and plans, and in the writing and delivery of appropriate and audience focused change and communication products.
- Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools, in particular in workplace change management projects across government.
- Proven ability to take a strategic, proactive approach in the management of reputation issues, internal and external communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to identify and understand internal and external customer needs and adapt style and language to meet them.
- Proven ability to actively engage with a broad range of internal stakeholders from operations, policy, finance and other areas in shaping communication approaches.
- Experience with large-scale office property related organisational change efforts in particular understanding of activity-based working, technology processes, implementation planning, and operational transition.
- Understanding of project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
- Extensive experience in communications strategy development, and in the design and delivery of various communication media channels.
- A proven track record of experience and achievement in the strategic management and messaging of significant and complex issues and opportunities, across multi organisations or agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in controlling, monitoring and evaluating the content of communication products to ensure quality, consistency and accessibility of messages.
- Must have legal right to live and work in NZ.
