**About the Role**

This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The Health and Safety Lead will oversee the H&S teams' proactive management of risk assessments, provide training to employees, investigate incidents, and lead initiatives to promote a safety-conscious culture throughout the organisation.

Your ability to influence without authority will be critical, as you'll partner with our leaders, to provide support, and guidance that will lift their capability in managing health and safety across the business.

Your day-to-day will include, but is not limited to:

- Develop and implement an adaptive strategy for H&S improvement that is informed by data and insights, based on clear principles and underpinned by a defined H&S mindset for Callaghan Innovation
- Create and provide accurate and timely reports, information and analysis to support decision making at the executive and governance levels
- Develop and deliver communication plans using multiple methods to engage and communicate effectively key H&S messaging across all functions and levels of the business
- Lead and facilitate transformational change for the H&S function.

**About you**

As an experienced H&S professional, you are passionate about developing and delivering strategies and business performance plans. You'll bring with you excellent communication skills and an ability to coach members of the H&S team, executive members and Board members to lead H&S in an integrated way. You will utilise your previous experience within a similar or senior H&S role to continuously improve in the new ways of working.

You'll also have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification, in H&S or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years' experience in a health and safety role, with at least 5 years' experience in a leadership/management position.
- Demonstrated experience of delivering organisational wide H&S change and raising H&S capabilities.
- Experience in: Project management, Managing Hazardous Substances and claims management
