**Who are we?**

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. **About the role**:
The Senior Security Engineer role is responsible for planning, leading, monitoring, and reporting of all ICT security activities including systems integration and monitoring for Fire and Emergency New Zealand systems. You’ll lead and mentor ICT staff and will be responsible for ensuring that the security gates are met.

The focus of this role is to ensure that both the systems within our environment as well as the vendor platforms meet our security and best practice standards. You’ll ensure that the ICT team work efficiently and effectively in order to deliver security services using the Fire and Emergency New Zealand security methodology and adhere to security standards set by FENZ and the New Zealand government.

There is opportunity to be part of an on-call roster if desired and your salary would be supplemented in this case.

**What you’ll bring to the role**:

- A strong background in Security engineering within a delivery or operations focused role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of security governance frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks, ISO, NIST and NZISM
- Experience using security diagnostic tools
