**_We are looking for a Design and Implementation Manager to support the Te Ao Mārama programme. This is a fixed-term role until July 2025 and is based in Wellington._**

**Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity**

The Manager, Design and Implementation role primarily focuses on areas of people leadership and development; ensuring the effective and efficient operation of their team; managing relationships with key stakeholders and maintaining overall ownership of team outputs. You will provide thought leadership on strategic and operational matters to support the delivery of the Te Ao Mārama Programme.

The Design and Implementation team supports the wider Te Ao Mārama programme by ensuring the changes and capability are delivered in a way that is in line with the outcomes of the programme and that change is sustainable.

You will lead a team of highly skilled advisors who will work with community service providers, court staff, the judiciary, iwi, and diverse communities to design and deliver a range of services and outputs that are in line with the outcomes and scope of the Te Ao Mārama Programme.

Critical to your success will be your commitment to working across the Ministry, iwi and the community, other government agencies, and the judiciary.

To be successful in the role you will bring the following skills and experience:

- Experience leading and influencing during a time of significant change experience working collaboratively to achieve organisational outcomes.
- Strong Iwi and community engagement and collaboration skills. Experience in leading change would also be advantageous.
- Leading complex programmes/ projects to successful completion.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within Te Ao Māori and display core skills in te reo Māori and in tikanga Māori.
- Demonstrated competence in the realisation and tracking of project and programme benefits.
- Providing intellectual and professional leadership across and within organisations, including experience mentoring and developing employees.
- Proven record in building and managing strong stakeholder relationships including working with other agencies, service providers and key stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of the machinery of government and public sector systems and processes, including accountability requirements and the use of performance information to inform decision-making.
- Sound understanding of the constitutional principles and legal processes that underpin the New Zealand justice system.
- Operational experience in a medium or large organisation, and demonstrated success in a senior management role, including planning and reporting, financial management, organisational leadership, and strategic management.
- Working as a member of a senior management team with discrete unit goals but shared group and organisational goals.
- Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.

We are currently establishing the Te Ao Mārama Programme team, a multi-disciplinary roopu to enable the design, development, and delivery of the programme. You will be working closely with supporting teams across the Ministry of Justice and the wider justice sector.
