Our Legal Services team is based in our National Office in Wellington. This solicitor role is a dynamic and challenging one. It's also a great opportunity to grow your knowledge of public sector matters and to gain a solid understanding of legal matters relating to the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori Affairs legislation and te ao Māori. You will be assisting the Manager, Legal Services to provide the highest quality legal advice on a wide range of matters including:

- Ministerial powers and responsibilities.
- Legislative compliance.
- The review of legislation impacting Māori.
- Contracts and other legal documentation.
- Law reform initiatives, policy projects and programme initiatives.
- The administration of Māori Trust Boards and other legislation administered by Te Puni Kōkiri.

Ko wai koe | About you

**We are looking for people who have**:

- A law degree and eligibility to hold a practicing certificate.
- An understanding of the legal implications of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- An understanding of significant issues prevalent in the area of Māori affairs.
- A high standard of analytical, written and oral communication.
- The ability to provide accurate and relevant legal advice.
- An understanding of tikanga and te reo.
