**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**

This is a five-year postdoctoral research position with some teaching, where you will help develop approaches to study the climate forcing exerted by airborne microplastics under future plastic pollution scenarios. You will be encouraged to grow and flourish as a researcher, to pursue independent research, and to mentor more junior colleagues in areas of your skillsets and expertise. The UC atmospheric chemistry group has wide-ranging interests that include marine aerosols, stratospheric ozone, climate modelling and airborne microplastics, including both observational and modelling approaches. UC has a rapidly expanding network of atmospheric science-related research groups across physics and geography, and existing collaborations with related groups nationally and internationally. Teaching is part of the position, and will involve approximately 30 hours of lectures per year on atmospheric chemistry (contributions to CHEM111, ANTA102, CHEM340, CHEM333 and ENVR414).

The UC atmospheric chemistry group values work-life balance; NZ annual holidays run mid Dec to mid Jan and we go offline during that time. Christchurch | Ōtautahi is a pleasant city with easy access to nearby mountains and coast.

**Mōu | Who You Are**
You should have submitted a PhD in atmospheric physics or chemistry by your start date. This position is ideal for a researcher with experience in climate modelling and working on high performance computing systems, who is excited to work in a novel and rapidly emerging field of research. Strong communication skills (written, oral) in English are essential.

**Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With**
You will work with UC's Atmospheric Chemistry group who are led by Associate Professor Laura Revell, in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences | Te Kura Matū. The group are a mix of postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate students, with expertise in global climate modelling and measurement and analysis of airborne microplastics.
