At Manatū Hauora - Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Communications and Engagement group is a core part of the Government and Executive Services directorate, leading and supporting all Ministry communications and engagement and associated processes and channels.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
The Principal Advisor Engagement supports the Ministry to develop and maintain relationships with our most important stakeholders using best practice advice and tools.
You will play a technical leadership role in a team with a critical role in supporting the Ministry with both a strategic and tactical approach to engagement to support our role as steward of the health system. You will have expertise in running engagement strategies and frameworks using established models; collecting intelligence and interpreting and analysing it using business intelligence tools and insights. You will be expert at managing relationships. You will have worked successfully in diverse cultural contexts.
You will be an active participant in the group's leadership team, providing direction, motivation and development across the group. You will support the Engagement Manager to set priorities for the team and lead them through engagement projects.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- An experienced and seasoned engagement practitioner with a track record of high-quality delivery and achieving business outcomes
- Demonstrated experience working successfully in diverse cultural contexts, with knowledge of Māori and Pasifika relations in order to improve equity of outcomes.
- A track record providing high-quality advice to Ministers and senior leaders and driving work programmes to ensure delivery
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on building and maintaining trust and confidence to position the organisation as a trusted authority
- Strong critical thinking and judgement to analyse large, complex issues
- Politically savvy with Government sector experience
