Exciting opportunity for an experienced Scrum Master
- Be part of a well-established, mature SAFe programme
- Join a flexible organisation committed to your development and growth
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
You will join our Digital Delivery team to deliver, enhance and upgrade our digital apps and enterprise services, which are crucial in supporting the New Zealand way of life. We are looking for a motivated Scrum Master to join our team, to support our squads and Agile Release Train as we expand our delivery capabilities using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
This is your opportunity to join us and make a meaningful contribution to our Agile journey and to Toitū Te Whenua's wider transformation to deliver more value for New Zealand.
At Toitū Te Whenua we design our roles around shared capabilities (rather than focusing on tasks) and so you'll notice our role profiles are broad. This allows us to be responsive to our customers and to strengthen the connections across our organisation. It also gives us the flexibility to provide wider opportunities to our people, to further their careers. The broad-based role for this position is ‘Solution Delivery Specialist'.
He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience
You will draw on your previous experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team in a SAFe environment, to empower our squads to self-organise, self-manage, and deliver. As a servant leader, you'll champion agile ways of working as you coach other squad members to communicate, coordinate, and cooperate to meet their delivery goals. You'll foster an environment to drive high-performing squad dynamics, continuous improvement, and value to the customer. A strong technical understanding will allow you to quickly resolve impediments for the squad by actively addressing and blocking any issues that are beyond the team's authority, allowing the squad to stay focused on Sprint objectives.
With your excellent communication, facilitation and organisational skills, you'll enjoy facilitating the scrum process, meetings and workshops (e.g. Retros, Planning, Refining) in an engaging manner.
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
- Coaching and educating the team and others in the project around SAFe ways of working, practices and principles.
- Embracing a strong delivery mindset to help the teams achieve their programme and team objectives.
- Resolving impediments for the team by actively addressing and blocking any issues that are beyond the team's authority, or which may require support from other teams.
- Supporting the Product Owner/Business Owner to ensure the product backlog is in good shape and prioritised.
- Holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work, helping them to identify, mitigate and resolve issues/risks, and ensuring they comply with any reporting requirements.
- Collaborating with other Scrum Masters and RTEs across the ARTs to provide mutual support and ensure alignment across the programme.
- Organising and facilitating the Agile ceremonies.
- Developing and delivering training collateral to people and teams in the business.
The expected appointing range is $120,000 to $140,000.
