Mō te tūnga | About the role
As the System Support Coordinator you will play a critical role in supporting the System Administrator in ensuring that the Veterans Support System (VSS) information technology/IT tool has integrity, is maintained and planned for. Your outputs will support all areas across the business.
You'll work with the wider Veterans' Affairs team at all levels to ensure system training, support, testing and implementation of changes and updates are managed. You'll be skilled at proactively identifying constraints/risks/issues to be resolved, and highlighting opportunities for improvements

**Key duties include**:

- Supporting the veteran claims process by generating information to support changes to workflow, scheduling and business processes which will make processing faster;
- Training staff as new systems and processes are rolled out to maximise understanding and good us of all systems; and
- Creating and providing reports based on the system data.

Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience with supporting IT system/s and experience with key systems admin activities and processes. This will involve systems thinking experience including investigation and analysis of complex information.
You will be relatable and bring strengths in your ability to build and maintain working relationships.

**Key skills and experience we are looking for include**:

- Refined communication skills with the ability to tailor your message to suit your audience;
- Comfortable facilitating and delivering training and coaching;
- SQL reporting and high level of Excel skills; and
- Organised and able to prioritise.

Veterans' Affairs New Zealand (VA) provides support and services for veterans and their families.

**The work of VA involves**:

- Administration of the Veterans' Support Act 2014, and delivery of entitlements, services, and supports to eligible veterans;
- Providing policy advice about veteran-related matters to the Government;
- Supporting veteran attendance at commemorations of significant military anniversaries;
- Delivering outreach programmes to improve awareness of available services and supports via face to face, virtual and digital engagement; and
- Working in partnership with veteran support and advocacy organisations.
