**He angituutanga: The opportunity**

Māngere-Ōtāhuhu is young and an ethnically diverse community with a high Māori population and the largest proportion of Pacific people in Auckland. We are a focused and committed team who takes pride in creating a world-class customer experience that is unique to our libraries.

This senior role provides a stimulating mix of customer service and community liaison. You will have previous experience working in libraries and/or bring experience in the development, implementation and delivery of services and programmes. Because this role involves working with diverse communities, the ability to speak another language is desirable.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

Your natural ability to relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds, excellent communication, along with strong digital and readers advisory skills is essential. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

- leadership in the day-to-day running of the library; taking over the supervisory role when required
- is willing to help create a whānau environment where everyone works together to achieve team goals
- enjoys working with people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds particularly Pasifika and whānau Māori
- high level of digital skills and the ability to support customers to successfully use information resources, technology, and devices.
- loves working with tamariki and rangatahi and can assist with school holiday programmes
- as a strong, people focused, and empathy driven work ethic
- is passionate about making a difference in the community
- is flexible and demonstrates a collaborative approach to their work
- has strong communication skills
- can demonstrate excellent organisational skills.

This is a permanent opportunity working 38 hours per week on a variable schedule. Our library is open seven days a week so flexibility around working hours including weekend days and late nights is required.
