Are you passionate about working with a vibrant, diverse community?
- Become a valued member of Auckland Central City Library, as part of the Central City Hub
- Permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, including one late night and one weekend day per week.

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Tāmaki Pātaka Kōrero - Auckland Central City Library, as part of the Central City Hub, as a Community Engagement Librarian

The focus of this role is to engage with the broader community within Auckland’s central city and the Waitematā Local Board. You will work collaboratively to build a sense of place and belonging, enhance the wellbeing of customers through brokered services, build partnerships with internal/external stakeholders like the Auckland City Mission & Kāinga Ora and implement and oversee place-based and system-wide initiatives.

This role is uniquely positioned as an innovator and connector working across the Central City Hub including the Ellen Melville Centre, Albert Park Caretakers’s Cottage and Te Wharekura. You will also be taking on a senior responsibility within our frontline library service, helping staff with general customer services inquiries, promoting our collections, connecting people with our digital resources, problem solving challenging situations that include some security processes and helping to facilitate Council Services interactions.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

- Experience working alongside people with complex needs, who takes a people first approach to their work.
- Has a strong understanding of the importance of partnership and relationship building with the different local communities within Central Auckland.
- Enthusiasm and creativity, able to confidently deliver people focused programmes, events, and activities.
- Experience in community led programme design.
- An ability to develop good rapport with diverse communities, build stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively utilising your great communication skills.
- A strong interest and awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is required, as well as the confidence to lead responsive services that meet the needs of Māori in Central City.

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**
This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week. Our library is open seven days a week so flexibility around working hours, including weekends is required. The role will require one late night and one weekend day per week.

**Applications close Thursday 14th December**
- Auckland Council strongly encourages our employees to be fully vaccinated._
