The role of a Community Board Advisor provides an unrivalled opportunity for a governance professional to be at the forefront of local governance decision making in a fast-growing, diverse and exciting community.
**About the team**:
We have a team of 6 dedicated professionals who support the Waihoro Spreydon Cashmere Heathcote Community Board. Their mahi helps to:
- Support local elected representatives (the Community Board) to be great advocates and decision makers for their communities
- Grow stronger communities through capacity building
- Connect and support local groups across a range of activities that make the neighbourhoods better places to live and play in
**About the role**:
In this role you will be putting your knowledge of governance processes to work, juggling priorities and conflicting time pressures, and putting out metaphorical fires in a fast-paced environment. You will also:
- Manage the end-to-end meeting processes for the SCH Community Board
- Foresee future issues, and give advice to elected representatives, community members and staff from across the organisation
- Maintain strong relationships with staff, elected members and community representatives
- Maintain the Community Board webpage
- Contribute to a team life in a fun and collaborative environment that harnesses and builds on the strengths of its members
**About you**:
To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills and the ability to work collaboratively and be innovative. You will also:
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in public policy or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Have a sound knowledge of governance and public sector processes
- Be able to communicate across a range of media
- Understand communities, and what it takes to get them to interested and involved in the stuff that impacts on their daily lives
