- Oversee the development, monitoring, reporting and review of the Regional Land Transport Plan, Regional Public Transport Plan and Regional Speed Management Plan.
- Your team are the region's trusted advisors on transport policy & planning in a time of change. You will be comfortable navigating public and political interests
- Ensure that the non-regulatory methods of policy delivery are being implemented through planned, efficient and effective programmes.
- Developing and maintaining productive and enduring networks of regional collaboration and engagement.
- Be the key point of contact for the organisation and territorial authorities on transport policy and planning to ensure alignment between district and regional direction
- Advocate for improvements to relevant legislation and government policy including by overseeing the preparation and coordination of submissions to relevant national policy development on behalf of the Regional Transport Committee.
- This is a role with significant profile and autonomy.
- Promote land-use transport integration through actively engaging in:

- Strategic land use planning
- District plan changes and reviews
- Subdivision and resource consent
- Identify and initiate initiatives that improve:

- how we conduct our activities
- how we and other transport stakeholders organise ourselves and deliver transport services for the Waikato’s communities.
- the transport outcomes from development proposals

- You will have sound judgement when it comes to managing risk, public & political expectations.
- You will be able to lead and facilitate engagement, including with external stakeholders, elected members and the public.

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- Minimum of 7 years’ operating at a managerial or executive level
- Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably post graduate) in public policy, transport, environmental or town planning, management, or related field.
- Applied experience working in policy guided by legislative or government policy requirements such as Land Transport Management Act 2003, Resource Management 1991 or Local Government Act 2002.
