**Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role**

The Procurement Specialist - Infrastructure shapes procurement solutions which maximise the benefits and outcomes that the Ministry and schools receive from their expenditure, contributing to the growth of future generations in New Zealand.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be:

- Leading a variety of procurements across our property portfolio, engaging Main Contractors and Professional Services Consultants (Designers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Engineer to the Contract),
- working collaboratively with our stakeholders to undertake needs analysis,
- developing sourcing strategies (including regular contact with our supplier base),
- creating procurement plans,
- leading evaluations,
- facilitating contract negotiation and award processes,
- contributing to an environment of continual process improvement.

**Mōhou ake | About you**

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

You will also demonstrate:

- The ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to prioritise and multi-task in an environment where workloads can escalate quickly,
- A positive and ‘can do' attitude is paramount and experience in the public sector and/or the construction industry would be advantageous (but not necessarily essential),
- Good commercial nous - an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks,
- A willingness to learn and develop in a dynamic environment,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Ideally a Tertiary or industry qualification in a related field (e.g. CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting) or industry relevant experience,
- Some experience in data analysis and reporting.

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.
