Taumata Arowai is the water services regulator for Aotearoa New Zealand - our vision is for “safe water every day, for everyone”. It is a Crown entity governed by a Minister-appointed Board and advised on Māori interests and knowledge by Te Puna, a statutory Māori Advisory Group. Our responsibilities are to protect and promote drinking water safety and related public health outcomes - we regulate drinking water suppliers on behalf of the public. We also have an oversight role in relation to the environmental performance of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater networks.

Managing a team of communications specialists, including strategic communications, media, channels and content, and internal communications, you'll operate at a strategic and operational level as Taumata Arowai develops and matures. You'll need to work with complexity, ambiguity and be able to think on your feet to provide proactive and reactive support. Innovation and creativity are key drivers in the way we will work - our size requires us to be smart and agile.
We are looking for an experienced communications professional who can demonstrate their ability to think strategically and broadly to deliver long-lasting solutions. Our Communications Manager will be comfortable working within a range of disciplines and mediums to engage effectively with our diverse stakeholders. We're looking for someone who can lead, influence at the senior level, and will enjoy managing complex problems.

We are looking for an experienced communications professional, able to demonstrate their expert ability to think strategically. You will be comfortable utilising a range of communication disciplines and platforms to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.

**We are looking for someone who**:

- Is able to thrive in a complex and ambiguous environment
- An experienced people leader with the ability to grow, and lead a successful team with a clear purpose
- Can lead the strategic direction of the organisation's approach to communications and stakeholder management
- Has a strong commitment to te reo Māori and te ao Māori expertise; and in developing strong and meaningful relationships with mana whenua and Māori organisations through a Māori communications lens
