The Investment and Funding Strategy team is responsible for providing policy advice on health investment and funding settings. We are part of the Strategy Group of Te Pou Rautaki (Strategy, Policy and Legislation directorate) of Manatū Hauora and our work is an important part of the health system reforms that will shape the delivery of health services for decades to come.

We are looking for a Principal Policy Analyst to join the team and take on a leadership role in our work programme, which is currently focussed on:

- Supporting the Government to agree an unprecedented multi-year budget for health that will change the way health funding is managed
- Developing and advising Ministers on a strategic approach to investing in health priorities over the next three years.

In this role you will work closely with health entities, the Treasury, finance, health economics, and policy teams across the Ministry. You will take a leadership role in our relationships with our partners and in developing and implementing our work programme. You will support the Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts by peer reviewing and providing coaching and in-depth analytical support.

- Ability to break down complex problems, designing elegant and innovative policy solutions
- An understanding of Government, economics and public finance settings
- Able to work collaboratively with policy, strategy and sector experts, as well as wider communities, to effectively co-design new approaches;
- Experience working with Māori and within te ao Māori paradigms to reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your policy and strategy work
- Skilled in communicating effectively and strategically for Ministers and decision-makers
