**About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga**
- This role may be based in either the Timaru or the Christchurch offices.

This role offers an opportunity to improve educational achievement for all learners, including Māori and Pacific. If you are enthusiastic and committed to building collaborative relationships and open to doing things differently, this could be the role for you.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders, boards of trustees and Communities of Learning to achieve successful educational outcomes for all students. A key focus will be on realising the potential of Māori students and Pacific students. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to share your knowledge and experience in improving student engagement and achievement.

**About you | Mōhou ake**

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and capabilities:

- a good understanding of the New Zealand education system and of legislation relevant to education
- experience, preferably at a leadership level, in Primary or Secondary education, Māori medium, or school governance
- relationship and stakeholder management experience
- the ability to partner with others to support and implement change initiatives
- a relevant tertiary qualification
- You will also offer:

- Demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of working in education with Pacific families and communities.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

**About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake**

**Te Mahau | Te Tai Runga** provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities and the schooling sector at the regional level. The Canterbury office has a critical role to play in understanding regional information gathered, the insights this offers and the impact this has on the wider organisation. This allows us to shape the work that is delivered so it is relevant to the local need. We also support schools as they implement national strategic intentions, assisting in provision of clear and well supported communications.
