The Dunedin City Council is looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to join the Finance Team as an Assistant Management Accountant. You will be part of a team that is responsible for providing customer focused financial information, advice and services, with a main emphasis in assisting with the preparation of the financial elements of the Annual/Long Term Plan and to provide support to the Financial Analyst Team.

Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, this is a busy and varied role. The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to the following:

- Assisting with the co-ordination of all processes involved in the development of the annual estimates and associated financial planning. This involves working with the Financial Analysts, Activity Managers and other departmental staff involved in the budgeting process
- Ensure that client activities receive a high level of analysis, information, technical financial and business advice and assistance on financial matters
- To identify opportunities to implement service improvements and contribute to departmental improvement projects
- To provide assistance to the Financial Analyst Team with monthly management and financial reporting functions.

**To be considered for this role, you will have**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Intermediate to advanced skills within the Office 365 suite, specifically Excel
- A sound and in-depth knowledge of both the theory and practice in both financial and management accounting
- Experience working in a professional business environment or comparable local government organisations will be an advantage.
