**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We have a vacancy for a Technologist to join our technical team. The person will have core single-phase and three-phase electricity system established expertise and broad experience in hardware system building skills for electrical circuits, machines, transformers, and electronics work. They will also have experience teaching practical skills and teaching people how to operate new technologies like grid-connected photovoltaic systems, smart-meters, storage batteries, Protective Relays using Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) models, and the like. Good customer service is also essential in this role.

This role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, on a permanent basis. The salary range for this role is $66,600 - $82,200 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

**Qualifications**:
**He kōrero mōu | About you**

**Essential**:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering with 4-5 years of experience in the power Systems area.
- Registration with EWRB as Electrical Service Technician (including 3 phases), Electrician, Electrical Inspector, or Electrical Engineer.
- Experience of 4 to 5 years, including 2 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in Power Systems.
- Experience in implementing rigorous safety practices.
- Experience in fault-finding, repair, and maintenance of single-phase and three-phase residential/industrial electrical installations; instrumentation; data acquisition and processing.
- Experience in organizing and running laboratory experiments or some courses for industry technicians.
- Leadership, mentoring, and negotiation skills.
- Dealing with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of single and three-phase power supplies, programmable AC and DC loads, transformers, generators, motors, inverters, and electrical wiring. Calibration and documentation for such work.
- Understand the New Zealand Electricity system stakeholders across generation, transmission, distribution, metering, contracting, and vendors.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.

**Preferred**:

- Postgraduate research qualification in Power Systems area with 2-3 years post-graduation experience in power systems.
- Experience in high power/voltage electronics design and assembly.
- Experience in working with simulation software.
- Skilled in printed circuit design and Computer Aided Design.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers and circuit design.
- Good soldering and assembly techniques skills of electronic prototypes, boards, and devices with discrete and integrated holes and SMT components.
- Working exposure towards smart metering, solar PV grid installation, and other emerging Smart Grid technologies in the electricity sector.
