Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
The team' work involves critical thinking and analysis, problem solving, effective communication, and relationship building. For this role you will have experience working with our Treaty Partners, experience with implementing settlement frameworks and will excel at analytical thinking and problem solving.
We are now entering a critical phase for the delivery of the aquaculture settlement under the Māori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act, and are looking for an experienced Senior Aquaculture Analyst or Principal Aquaculture Analyst who can help us navigate a number of complex and intertwining workstreams. A critical focus for this role will be to find practical ways forward on the core elements that underpin delivery of the aquaculture settlement. Through this, you'll be equipping your colleagues with the inputs needed to deliver settlement at a regional level. This includes:

- updating growth forecasting and valuation models to reflect a growing and evolving aquaculture sector.
- maintaining oversight of the Crown's ‘New Space Plan', which guides the delivery of the Crown's ongoing settlement obligations.
- crafting processes to maintain delivery of commitments in settlement agreements.
- developing new approaches to the aquaculture settlement to maximise outcomes for Māori, as determined through regular reviews of progress; and
- working closely with the settlement Trustee, Te Ohu Kaimoana, and iwi aquaculture leaders.

Mōu - About You
- Proven ability to build relationships, find common ground and reach agreements, and engage effectively with a range of people, including our Treaty partners
- Strong analytical skills and the capacity to quickly identify and clearly define an issue and how to respond appropriately
- Experience in turning complex legislative provisions into implementable operational activities
- Experience operating within a te ao Māori and Treaty settlement context
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects or pieces of work at the same time and respond to changing circumstances.

The Principal Aquaculture Advisor will also be required to mentor and support staff and directly advise their Manager, Director and Ministers..
