**Mō te tūnga - About the role**

Christchurch Hospital provides tertiary cardiac services to the South Island of New Zealand. The department has six Interventional Cardiologists. It performs over 1000 PCI’s per year and operates a 24 hour STEMI service. It has an active structural heart disease programme.

The department has accreditation for advanced training in Cardiology by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Working in this department with experienced Consultants and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team will give you the opportunity to gain specialist experience.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and Experience**

We have the ideal opportunity for a full-time, fixed-term Interventional Cardiology Fellow looking to gain valuable experience on your road to becoming a Cardiologist.

You will need to be able to start in August 2024 or earlier.

You’ll have access to state-of-the-art equipment, world class Consultants and gain experience in complex PCI including LM stenting, bifurcations, rotational atherectomy and chronic total occlusions. The department has expertise in intracoronary imaging (optical coherence tomography and IVUS) and physiology.

You will be required to participate in the afterhours roster covering cardiology admissions and in patients.

You will have completed your advanced training in Cardiology (FRACP, MRCP (UK) or equivalent) and have been in Specialist Training in Cardiology for a minimum of two years. Competency in diagnostic angiography is a pre-requisite, although extensive previous PCI experience is not required.
