**Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation**

We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

We are part of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.

We are committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and providing culturally safe care. We value role modelling manaakitanga as demonstrated by Ngāti Whātua in the gifting of their whenua on which our hospitals stand. We aspire to having a workforce reflective of the communities we serve and achieving equitable outcomes for all.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

You will be an integral part of the forensic pathology team, including the senior leadership team dealing with over 1000 coronial autopsies each year, covering the full spectrum of coronial-authorised post-mortems.

You will report directly to the Technical Head, Forensic Pathology and work in close collaboration with the Clinical Director, Operations Manager to ensure efficient operation, identify issues, and develop strategies to mitigate risk. You will be responsible for managing a small administration team with regards to planned and unplanned leave, workload and task allocation.

We play a crucial role in mass fatality events, operate a 7 day a week on-call service and are accredited by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) for training and the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). The department has a dedicated CT scanner as well as separate infectious and homicide theatres and provide a busy regional perinatal post-mortem service as part of the National Perinatal Pathology Service (NPPS). The department operates out of LabPLUS (IANZ-accredited tertiary laboratory) on the Auckland City Hospital site and is staffed by full-time technicians, forensic pathologists, perinatal pathologists, Quality Officer/IT Superuser, management, and administration personnel. The department provides training for forensic mortuary technicians in mortuary operations and post-mortem imaging.

The position has the overall responsibility and accountability for providing oversight and management of the administration resources for the area. This will include perinatal administration, coronial and non-coronial administration, transcription, documentation, file management, management of unclaimed deceased, assistance to whanau/families of the tūpāpaku, data management and tissue management, including comprehensive tissue audits. You will have an overall emphasis on quality outcomes with primary responsibility for maintaining the administration section and tissue management’s accreditation against the standard ISO 15189.

Within the administration and tissue space you will assist with developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives, liaising with internal services and external agencies to provide a quality service that meets the needs of the department and stakeholders.

You will be the first point of contact for all administration and tissue related issues and liaise between the department, LabPLUS, the wider Te Toka Tumai organisation and our external stakeholders when required.

For further details, please refer to the position description here.
