We have an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an experienced Senior Analyst to join our Whenua Māori team.

Whenua Māori Services takes a culturally grounded, holistic, and strengths-based approach to achieving whānau aspirations through whenua. It puts the wants, needs and aspirations of whānau at the centre of decision-making and processes and supports them to achieve their aspirations.
The Senior Analyst role will provide data analysis that will help the Ministry to support whānau aspirations through whenua. The role will be based in Te Puni Kōkiri's National Office in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. The role will be expected to work across the Ministry providing data analysis, support reporting functions, investment outcomes and advice on whenua related matters.

**In particular, the Senior Analyst will**:

- Work closely with the Whenua Māori Manager, Team Leader and Principal Advisors to develop consistent priorities and objectives across Whenua Māori investments.
- Identify common themes and trends to improve fund criteria across various investment streams.
- Develop and maintain whenua investment pipelines.
- Contribute to primary and secondary policy advice regarding whenua priorities which are informed by regional intelligence.
- Manage and analyse information to continuously improve Whenua Māori Services strategy, approaches, service design and delivery.
- Utilise data and analytics approaches that are supported by the business and organisational engagement tools.
- Actively support the team to understand, articulate and utilise the Whenua Māori framework to inform their thinking and work.
- Assist the Whenua Māori Manager, Team Leader and other Principal Advisors to monitor work efficiencies across the team to ensure a joined up and collaborative approach.
- Ensure quality standards and appropriate processes are maintained in all work that is produced.
- Have excellent relationship management and communication skills.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- A relevant degree or significant experience in relevant public or private sector organisations.
- Operational and strategic policy experience.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills and experience in developing and implementing workable solutions to ambiguous and complex problems.
- A high level of understanding and direct experience of government processes, systems and tools.
- Proven ability working in cross-government policy development and/or implementation settings within area and level of expertise.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and persuade key stakeholders.
- Highly developed communication skills both oral and written which enable the person involved to deal effectively with key stakeholder relationships and explain complex issues clearly to a range of audiences, including non-technical experts.
- Excellent communication skills including an ability to use conversational Te Reo Māori within the workplace.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate with a diverse and flexible team of staff including the ability to build, maintain and enhance strategic relationships within Te Puni Kōkiri, and other government departments.
- An understanding of social outcomes measurement and evaluation.
- Proven ability to represent Te Puni Kokiri and be recognised for your expertise by other Government agencies or external stakeholders.
