**About the Team**:
The CE Office, People, Capability & Culture Group provides a key advice role to the Chief Executive around the governance, culture, and direction, of Maritime NZ. It supports the Chief Executive with their critical relationships with Ministers and the Board, as well as supporting the Board and governance of the organisation. This Group contributes to the strategic leadership of Maritime NZ through supporting the design, delivery and embedding of the organisation's strategy Te Korowai o Kaitiakitanga and ensures change is well planned and delivered. It looks after and develops our people, supports staff connection and engagement, designs and delivers an effective internal health and safety strategy which looks after the safety of our people and role models great practice, and furthers Maritime NZs vision of being a diverse and inclusive organisation that delivers on Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and Te Ao Māori aspirations.

**What you'll do**:
As the Chief Advisor Health and Safety you'll be responsible for providing insight and thought leadership on our organisation's health and safety strategies, frameworks and programme design to ensure we demonstrate leadership in our internal health and safety practices. You will be a confident communicator well versed in providing strategic technical advice to Executive and Board level audiences. You will enjoy making connections across an organisation, our partner organisations and the sector, and will work in collaboration with the Manager People, Health and Safety and the wider People, Capability and Culture team.

**What we're looking for**:

- Significant experience in a senior health and safety advisory or leadership role;
- Proven experience providing technical advice at Board and Executive level;
- Strong working knowledge of New Zealand health and safety regulatory requirements and frameworks;
- Ability to work strategically and think at system wide level;
- Well-developed organisational skills and strong attention to detail;
- Ability to network and influence at all levels;
- Political acumen and an understanding of the Public Sector;
- Commitment to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and having regard to Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
