Mō te tūnga | About the role

The LINK is an ICT workgroup and is responsible for maintaining communication capability of essential services across Police and for multiple partner agencies.

**LINK is responsible for two programmes of work within Police**:

- Public Safety Network (PSN) programme - the new PSN network will replace existing emergency services radio communications networks with a modern, digital Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and improved cellular services to better support and deliver frontline services. PSN is the most significant advancement in public safety communications in New Zealand in decades. For Police this means access to better, more secure communications; access to modern equipment and networks; and work more effectively with other emergency services (FENZ, St John, Wellington Free Ambulance. We work in partnership with the Next Generation Critical Communications (NGCC) group.
- Radio Network Assurance (RNA) programme - maintaining our existing radio networks (digital and analogue) around New Zealand ensuring continuity of communications services to our frontline and emergency partners. RNA will transition to PSN over the next several years.

Reporting to the Change Delivery Lead, this role will help setup LINK, ICT and Police for success. This position is responsible for keeping our teams and stakeholders connected with our internal brand and informed of project and programme milestones and deliverables as they evolve, promoting the value of our work at all levels, from frontline to Executive.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Communication - provide strategic communications advice and support, and ensure that the LINK communications channels are well understood, maintained and current; alignment with ICT and Police strategic objectives.
- Operating Experience - develop, manage and deliver tactical communication products across multiple platforms (digital and print).
- Individually responsible and accountable - being accountable for individual and team performance; taking responsibility for contribution and development.
- Self-directed, motivated and led - the ability to provide direction, motivation and leadership of this critically important portfolio.

This role will ensure the communication elements of technology-based projects are planned and delivered in a targeted and relevant way for different audiences.

**Key skills and qualities for this position include**:

- Naturally collaborative, creative and energetic to ensure key messaging connects with a diverse group of stakeholders’ operations and perspectives.
- Possess the skills, knowledge and experience spanning the communications discipline operational, tactical, and strategic levels. For example, providing advisory support to the larger scale and complex PSN change programme, developing communication schedules and regular key messaging (writing/designing graphics to deliver these messages); production of team newsletters and sharing adhoc interest pieces.
- Proactive engagement of multiple stakeholders across various teams; working to tight timelines and in high-pressure environments.
