As part of the Directorate of Organisational Development, the Op RESPECT Team is responsible for implementing a 20 year strategy and culture change programme. The Op RESPECT vision is to grow a culture of safe and cohesive teams, which will enhance the NZDF's operational effectiveness, reputation, retention and recruiting. The vision will be achieved through prevention and response strategies that progressively eliminates inappropriate, unacceptable and harmful behaviours throughout the organisation. This includes supporting leaders to develop working environments that are safe, respectful and inclusive; that enhance individual and team trust, innovation and performance; and improve our peoples overall experiences and wellbeing.
The Programme Manager is a newly created 3 year fixed term position with the Op RESPECT Team, in which you support the Programme Lead to plan, optimise, support and continuously improve the programme and the delivery and effectiveness of its sub projects. The scope of the role ranges from higher level long term strategic planning through operational medium term planning and management of activities, staff and resources; to short term problem solving and adaptation to support delivery.
A busy and varied role, some of your key focus areas will be to support the Programme Lead to:

- Maintain engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders and working groups.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and improve Op RESPECT's prevention and response activities, to ensure their effects meet the programmes objectives, milestones and outcomes.
- Assist with developing, managing and reporting the Op RESPECT annual budget within a four year budget forecasting cycle.
- Prepare routine and bespoke Op RESPECT reports to meet NZDF governance and management requirements, including the programmes Steering Group and Board.

**Please note**: This is a fixed term opportunity for a 3 year period.
The role is based in Wellington, at Defence House. Once you have undergone induction and orientation for the role, there is the option of working from home up to 2 days a week.

We're looking for an experienced project or programme manager, who brings robust business and commercial acumen, as well as an understanding of the linkages across government activities.

**Key skills and experience we're looking for includes**:

- Proven ability to lead people and manage programmes to a successful outcome.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adjust your personal approach and communication style to positively influence varying people and audiences.
- A high level of personal integrity.
- An end-user and outcomes focus, with a strong desire and flexible approach to achieving results.
- Demonstrable skills in managing multiple priorities, risks and issues.

This role requires occasional domestic travel to NZDF Camps and Bases, including overnight stays. A Class 1 Full Driver's Licence is beneficial.
