The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Health Prevention team as** Clinical Director Prevention**. The primary purpose of this role is to provide senior clinical leadership to the Prevention team that enables the delivery of the Prevention and NPHS strategic agenda working toward Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).
**Mōu | About you**
The Clinical Director Prevention plays a vital leadership role within the New Zealand National Health Service. As a senior clinician with expertise in prevention (cancer screening and/or immunisation), the Clinical Director Prevention is responsible for overseeing and improving quality of care and service delivery. You will provide guidance and supervision for a clinical team with a broad range of experience and levels of expertise. You may also be required to lead or participate in case reviews following serious adverse events.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A medical degree with at least five years' experience working in New Zealand public health
- Vocationally registered in Public Health Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Relevant graduate (and post-graduate) qualifications - Extensive clinical experience and expertise in public health medicine, with appropriate tertiary level professional qualification
- Hold a registered medical practitioner current Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration as a specialist medical practitioner in a relevant speciality (FRNZCGP, FNZCPHM, FAFPHM, FRACMA or similar
- Significant experience in a senior level position with a wide span of control and leading leaders, including solid experience in coaching, mentoring, and managing teams
- Extensive business and people management experience for managing a significant division of the organisation
- Demonstrated ability to work in complex organisations and with diverse stakeholders
- Experience in leading change and service and quality improvement initiative
- Senior leadership level experience and responsibility for managing organisational risk and compliance
