Our Models department here at Wētā FX is responsible for modelling photorealistic assets for live action feature films and TV episodes. These tasks include character, digital double, organic models, hard surface models, environments, low resolution models for Previs or crowd simulation, shot sculpting, fur, hair, feathers and costumes.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in driving a team who delivers highest quality digital assets, in a company that continues to push the boundaries.
- Lead by example and effectively maintain a culture of support, transparency, trust and growth
- Have the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships both within your team and externally
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Collaborate extremely well with the Models Leadership Team which consists of Department Manager and Crew Manager
- Understand the technology and techniques relevant to the department disciplines (organic, hard surface, grooming, plants and environment workflows) and how to introduce and prioritize new tools/systems/workflows
- Have at least 10 years practical VFX post-production experience including depth and breadth in modelling discipline/s
- Be comfortable nurturing artists to grow their skills and achieve their career goals
- Foster strong, positive, collaborative relationships with your peers.
- Maintain an overview over the department goals and balance near term objectives with long term opportunities
- Have positive experience in stakeholder roles for technology or production workflows
- Effectively negotiate with other teams to ensure problems are solved with consideration for the interests of the company
- Represent Wētā FX professionally in all interactions
- Understand and manage financial/budget information as required- Provide mentorship for others
