The opportunity

Reporting to the Head of North Island Branches, you will be based in Wellington and provide local branch leadership, including portfolio management, identification of new business opportunities and staff development. Great opportunity to further develop your leadership skills and lead a tight knit, cohesive team of Underwriters and Administrative staff.

Your new role

As the Wellington Branch Manager you will:

- Support the development and implementation of a local business plan aligned with the approved strategy
- Lead and support the local team to implement new policies and processes to meet business needs.
- Proactively monitor internal and external risks, escalating where required
- Identify and escalate improvement opportunities for core business processes, performance monitoring and measurement, tools/systems/reports and resource utilization to support the business strategy.
- Establish clear accountability for direct reports and build a strong culture of individual accountability and performance in order to ensure delivery of business goals
- Promote excellence through the attraction, continual development and retention of high-quality workforce to create a sustained talent pipeline, and build people capability for the future (succession planning)

About you

With experience in the insurance industry, specifically within commercial underwriting you will demonstrate:

- Strong leadership and motivational ability
- Advanced administrative skills and a proven record of successful management
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills
- High impact presentation
- Ability to think strategically
- Priority and time management
