Sitting within the Organisational Support Group, we have recently seen the establishment and centralisation of the Asset Management Unit, which will form a ‘Centre of Excellence'. This team will deliver a more efficient and streamlined asset management service across the department.

He angitūtanga | About the role
Reporting to the Director Asset Management, the Strategic Asset Manager will provide functional leadership for the implementation of asset management best practice across DOC operations. We have two vacancies available, overseeing the North and South Island portfolios, respectively.

**The position will be focused on**:

- Providing specialist asset management expertise to develop, implement and manage regional asset management strategies
- Providing leadership to asset management planning and asset inspection functions aligned to best practice initiatives
- Implement and monitor best practice asset maintenance programmes with a health and safety lens to ensure the DOC team and visitors are connecting with nature safely
- Collaborating and consulting to key stakeholders (internal and external), to provide specialist advice, knowledge share and improve efficiencies
- Lead and develop a talented team providing clear guidance and structure to achieve key deliverables
- Ensuring DOC operates as an honourable treaty partner

If you have some of the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

- Experience in strategic asset management, compliance management or quality assurance within an operational environment
- Exposure using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in support of asset lifecycle management (SAP/EAM or similar) is essential
- A passionate and energetic leader and mentor who leads by example and empowers their team to achieve a common goal
- A strategic mindset, you can think ‘big picture', make pragmatic decisions and align business initiatives to the wider DOC strategy
- Strong understanding of asset management principles, systems and processes
- A strong collaborator, you're able to build trust and influence stakeholders, taking on others opinions whilst remaining on track
- Current full drivers license
- Understands the impact DOC and the wider public sector/government has on the Māori-Crown relationship

The salary range for this position is $113,712 - $161,659 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
