The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our civil business - a division of Fulton Hogan specialising in infrastructure construction, based around reinforced concrete. We are currently delivering work ranging from bridges and wharves to water treatment plants, storage tanks and pipelines.

As the Senior Project Engineer you will play a key role supporting our Project Manager with day-to-day project operations. This includes:

- Leading the project teams in the successful execution and delivery of the construction projects
- Being accountable for the day-to-day running of the project site and progress of works
- Ensuring documentation required for project records and administration is completed accurately and within required time frames
- Preparing correspondence/programming and cost estimates
- Scheduling works, procuring contractor services and providing technical expertise.

This role is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. The role can be based in Hamilton or Tauranga; however, you may need to travel to other projects throughout NZ.

What you’ll bring to the table

This position requires leadership, energy and structures construction knowledge. You will have the capability to be hands on, providing coaching and mentoring to team members on various technical elements, ensuring that work is completed to deadline and a high quality. You will have proven experience in major civil D&C construction projects, and be familiar with NZS3916 and the Construction Contracts Act. You will be well versed in using these principals to get the job completed within the timeframe, budget and claim entitlements.

In addition to this, you will have:

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Structural Engineer and have a BE, NZCE or a Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Proven experience managing budgets and programmes
- Excellent leadership qualities
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Financial focus towards project costs
- Proven ability in subcontractor management.
