**Our Opportunity**:
The Principal Planning and Policy Advisor will work with internal and external stakeholders to provide specialist planning advice to support key delivery outcomes for both the Sustainability Team and Reputation and Social Impact Team.

One main function of the role is to support the collaborative development of robust solutions for complex policy issues, including resource management, water and energy policy and social license consistent with Mercury's strategic objectives.
- Collaborate internally and externally to align with Sustainability business plan objectives.
- Form cross-functional teams for proactive positions and communication plans on strategic issues.
- Provide specialized planning guidance for local government processes, legislation, and policy initiatives.
- Provide leadership and guidance on environmental projects, including policy design and stakeholder management.
- Ensure projects and advice adhere to relevant legislation, industry standards, and organizational guidelines.

**We are looking for**:

- Tertiary qualification in planning, resource management or other related areas
- Experience in resource management and understanding of environmental management issues and the constraints/ implications on other areas of key strategic importance
- Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Influencing and communication skill
