Auckland City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

The Civil Aviation Authority and the Aviation Security Service offer distinctively different career opportunities and embrace diverse talent. All jobs at the Authority contribute to ensuring safe and secure skies to help New Zealand fly.

The Civil Aviation Authority is the regulatory arm of our organisation and the Aviation Security Service is the nationwide provider for aviation security.

Working at our organisation you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to safe and secure skies, for New Zealand.
Tēnei tūranga │ About the Role
Following the last few years of disruption to the aviation industry, normal travel around New Zealand and overseas has resumed, and once again the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is at the forefront of ensuring safe and secure skies for New Zealand. Our team of recruiters has been busy attracting and appointing a range of staff from frontline airport staff to senior leaders. We play a vital role in making sure the people we recruit maintain the high levels of competence, integrity and professionalism that defines CAA.
To enable the recruitment function to deliver our service, collaborate, and remain responsive, we are creating three Recruitment Hubs across our main centres - Auckland, National Office, and Central/South Island.
You will be joining us at a pivotal time as we build a Recruitment Hub in Auckland, comprising a Senior Advisor, Recruitment Advisor and Coordinator. Working with New Zealand’s busiest airport, the Auckland Hub will recruit both bulk and niche roles to a busy schedule with critical timeframes, guided by well-established processes.
Our Senior Advisors play an important role in building our recruitment capability through their expertise and mentorship. They manage often complex roles through a seamless process, partnering with the hiring manager as they guide and coach on all aspects of talent sourcing. Working in a regulatory environment, they understand how to manage risk and demonstrate our values through their integrity and professionalism, collaboration with the team and hiring managers, and honest and respectful conversations.
Ko tāu e kawe mai ai | What You’ll Bring
We are interested in hearing from you if you have senior level recruitment experience with a demonstrable track record in managing complex recruitment processes. You will have a finely tuned risk radar and be highly organised and planned. We are largely an operational organisation, so you will need to be able to demonstrate agility and the ability to flex as demands change.
Part of the role will involve overseeing technology and process improvement projects, and you will need to be agile in managing variable recruitment volumes. As a senior recruiter you will also coach and mentor other team members. You will have excellent knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, market trends and sourcing strategies. A background in in-house recruitment would be preferred.

As a safety regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority exists to enable safe flight for social connections, and economic benefit for New Zealand. We believe in keeping people safe and secure in the air, enabling participation in the aviation system, and making a difference to New Zealand aviation. We achieve this through regulatory oversight of the aviation industry and frontline security at our airports.
The foundation for achieving this is our values, which guide how we work and the behaviours we expect from each other.
- Me mahi tahi - Collaboration - We work together to achieve and succeed.
- Me mahi pono - Transparency - We are open and honest communicators.
- Me mahi tika - Integrity - We do the right thing.
- Me manaaki - Respect - We treat all people with consideration and kindness.

We invest in our people by supporting development within the organisation. To support the health and wellbeing of our employees we offer flu vaccinations, contributions towards eyewear and a flexible working environment by arrangement.
We offer 5 weeks of annual leave and can match your Kiwi Saver contribution up to 4%.
CAA strongly encourages and supports all our people to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. However our current policy position is that vaccination is not a requirement for employment in this role. Please note that CAA may, if needed, introduce a vaccination requirement for managing an epidemic.
Applications close on Wednesday 19 July 2023.
