Our Purpose - Ā Mātou Kaupapa
The Cyclone Recovery Unit (CRU) is hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet (DPMC).
The approach to the ongoing recovery from the flooding, and Cyclones Hale and Gabrielle will focus on being locally led and centrally supported. The CRU has been established to support the Chief Executive to lead and coordinate the Government's recovery work programme, provide strategic policy and legal advice, support locally led engagement with communities, iwi, business, local government, regional groups and others, coordinate planning and reporting, provide advice on system risk and assurance, ensure alignment with wider policy decisions on long-term resilience, climate change and managed retreat, and provide the secretariat function for the Cyclone Recovery Taskforce.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Senior Business Advisor leads and coordinates a wide range of business processes within the Unit, including
- the planning and performance reporting,
- working with finance to track budgets
- procurement advisory and administration
- undertake specific projects to improve the effective and efficient functioning of the group.
- support the team by identifying opportunities to share leadership challenges and by becoming a natural source of advice and support for team members
- build and maintain effective partnerships across the Cyclone response
- track and advise the Group on OIAs, Ministerial and proactive release documents, ensuring these are responded to in a timely manner
- manage invoicing to ensure efficiency of the group's financial processes in tandem with the finance business partner

Ko wai koe | About you
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to demonstrate strong relationship management skills, often in complex and challenging environments
- Strong organisational skills, energy, enthusiasm, adaptability, and ability to work to strict deadlines and cope with changing demands and requirements in a team environment
- High level of judgement, discretion and tact, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
- Familiarity with the Official Information Act, Parliamentary Questions and Select Committee questions and appearances
- Familiarity with procurement rules and financial sytems
- Familiarity with working with Ministers' offices and of the machinery of government would be an advantage
- Experience working with a range of senior officials in a collaborative manner

To be successful in the role we are looking for hands-on, self starters, agile and responsive to changing conditions, collaborative in style and natural team players.

Ta matou e tuku | What we offer
Salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000 p/a including Kiwi Saver contributions.
The CRU is based in Wellington and the team will operate from offices centrally located.
All roles are flexible by default and a positive work life balance is encouraged
