**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
As a dynamic, highly-organised and experienced Kaiāwhina | Assistant Librarian - Engagement at the University of Canterbury (UC) you will undertake a multifaceted library role that will contribute to the success and retention of students by providing outstanding library services and support.
You will be integral to the delivery of our library services, offering valuable advice and ensuring an engaging experience for students and staff, both on-campus and online. You achieve this through:
- Be a main point of contact for library visitors
- Promote library resources and services to students, staff, and visitors
- Supporting the Team Leader in coordinating events, activities, and promotions
- Lead, produce and update engaging content for the library's social media platforms and website
- Lead the documentation processes and workflows for our engagement activities and processes
- Assist in creating printed publications in line with UC guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring smooth day-to-day library operations.
**Mōu | Who You Are**
You must have at least 3-4 years in library services, preferably in a tertiary education setting as well as:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey information clearly and concisely
- Being a highly organised individual who can prioritise tasks effectively and manage time efficiently
- A commitment to upholding the values, tikanga, kawa, and traditions of Māori culture. Proficiency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga is advantageous
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating initiative and adaptability
- Strong computer literacy and an ability to learn new technologies and software quickly
- A bachelor's degree (NZQA Level 7) or equivalent
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
**Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With**
You will work alongside a diverse professional Library team who provide a range of services, resources and expertise that support undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching. We do this through the provision of information resources; reference and information services; digital literacy programmes; e-learning support and academic liaison; research support including repositories; Māori and Pacific support, and through our heritage collections.
