**The role**:
Leighs have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our dynamic Christchurch team. In this role, you will lead the charge in promoting robust safety practices across our diverse projects and contribute to the creation of a secure and efficient working environment for all. Initially, your focus will be on the University of Otago School of Medicine project, situated in the heart of the central CBD.

**Duties**:

- Monitor and assess the safety performance of various projects with a strong and vigilant approach.
- Develop effective tools and schedules for preventive measures, exercising your sharp analytical skills to identify and analyze accident and injury trends.
- Regularly conduct workplace and risk assessments, demonstrating your no-nonsense attitude towards safety compliance.
- Conduct audits as required to maintain safety standards, leaving no stone unturned.
- Collaborate with managers in a firm and resolute manner to seamlessly integrate Health and Safety practices into everyday business operations.
- Ensure meticulous documentation completion and electronic record-keeping for accidents, incidents, near misses, investigations, hazards, and their management.
- Investigate all reported incidents thoroughly, identifying root causes, drawing decisive conclusions, and promptly notifying WorkSafe within specified timeframes

**Skills & Experience**
- A minimum of 7 years' hands-on experience as a Health & Safety Advisor, in commercial construction.
- Proficient understanding of regulatory requirements, HSE databases, and Contractor HSE Management Systems, showcasing your mastery of the field.
- Proven expertise with HSE Management programs and principles, reflecting your command over safety procedures.
- Ideally, possess a tertiary level qualification in health and safety, reinforcing your commitment to excellence.
