The Planning and Information Office, co-ordinate the University’s planning and accountability activities. We oversee the University’s reporting strategy and decision support system and provide analysis and information that strengthen the University’s strategic and tactical decision-making.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are seeking an **Insights Development Manager **for a full time, permanent position. The focus of this role is to lead a team of Insights Analysts that support the University’s strategic planning and accountability processes for our faculties and service divisions.

Ideally, you will be a team leader or senior analyst with experience of working in a large complex organisation. You will have grappled with complex issues and projects that require effective research and the technical understanding to generate relevant dashboards and reports, but also have a proven record of building relationships and managing staff.

- Relationship management and staff leadership.
- Strategic, tactical and operational reporting.
- Business analysis.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**

The Planning and Information Office leads the strategic and operational planning for the University. This is achieved by providing a range of information support and advice including the provision of strategic, tactical and operational information; monitoring and assessing the institution’s performance; coordinating the planning process and developing; data governance and maintaining the University’s repositories of business information.

Our planning office consists of about 40 people in total, and you will have peers working with you who are also managers. You will act as a line manager for our largest team of analysts.

We have a flexible work culture, and working from home is common. We also support each other in peak periods and work to share knowledge and experience as much as possible.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

We are looking for you to have a strong understanding of data modelling, dimensional design and development techniques in an insights environment. As well as business analysis skills with the ability to investigate and solve problems in a structured and methodical manner. This all needs to be backed up by your extensive experience of dashboard/report building using an enterprise BI tool.

It is also important that you have the ability to lead a team and manage a high operational workload whilst ensuring that you have time for slower and time consuming strategic and analytical work.

- Experience leading a team in a complex organisation.
- Demonstrated experience of developing business information needs into insightful dashboards.
- Strong analytical skills developed through previous experience working in a senior analysis role or equivalent.
- Proven experience of working through a technical project from initiation to completion.
- The ability to coordinate the activities of others to achieve deadlines.
- The ability to investigate and solve problems in a structured and methodical manner.
- An undergraduate qualification in a discipline that requires a synthesis of qualitative and quantitative analyses.
