Ō te tūranga - About the role
The Senior Advisor is the lead team member position in the secretariat, reporting to the Manager, New Zealand Mining Board of Examiners and Operational Support (‘the manager') within the Extractives team.
The Senior Advisor will bring their business understanding and perspective to work in partnership with their manager and other staff.
**Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do**:
- Assist the manager to develop and lead the processes required to put into effect the Board's strategies and initiatives.
- Support the manager with the effective liaison and relations with the extractives industry by identifying issues relevant to the Board and developing strategies or proposals for the Board's consideration.
- Input to other areas of the Extractive Team (including Operational Support), from time to time, is expected.
**Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring**:
- Experience working in an advisory role, ideally with experience in the provision of secretarial support to a governance group and familiarisation with authorisation processes
- Ability to think critically and analytically with an eye to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and relationship management skills
- Be willing to carry out new tasks, learn on the job and explore new solutions with a “can do” attitude
- The ability to effectively manage or escalate issues
- A high degree of self-motivation
- Experience in and or knowledge of the national qualification framework would be useful

Awhe utu - Salary range
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $92,848 to $122,424, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $95,312 to $104,678. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
