About this role |Mō tēnei tūranga

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and skilled analyst to join our team. The analyst role delivers robust monitoring and assessment of demand pressures affecting schools in the Auckland region. This role covers the north-west of the Auckland region, although there will be opportunities to work across other parts of Auckland if required.

Planning for growth and change across the schooling network is critical for understanding the different responses needed. How do we plan for unknown or unexpected trends and drivers impacting on the city in the short, medium and long term? What factors need to be taken into consideration when assessing impacts on networks of schools? If you have the analytical skills to work with complex data and demographic information to answer these questions, then we want to speak with you.

This is a 12 month fixed term role to cover parental leave.

About you | Mōhou ake

This position would suit a self-motivated individual who enjoys digging into facts and figures, analysing trends and scenario modelling. You will need to be able to work collaboratively with colleagues to understand factors affecting growth of school rolls. A background in statistics, mapping and analysis would be a good starting point.

**To be successful in this role you will need to**:

- Deliver timely and appropriate analysis with a high degree of speed and accuracy
- Interpret detailed demographic and growth data
- Understand and explain complex data and concepts to a range of different audiences including school Principals and Boards
- Identify trends and issues, making evidence-based recommendations to inform decision making and investment planning
- Understand the timing of growth and infrastructure.

**You will also offer**:

- Advanced Excel and GIS skills (MapInfo, QGIS or ArcGIS)
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Prior knowledge or experience of data analysis and modelling
- An understanding of the New Zealand education system
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

Te Tai Raro Tāmaki Herenga Tāngata (North & West) provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.

As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.

We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
