About the Team

The Collections Officer role is part of the Collections team servicing Australia and New Zealand reporting into the Accounts Receivable Manager. Collections team is part wider Operations team and works closely with other AIG functions mainly Finance, Profit Centres, Claims, Shared Services teams that are based in New Zealand and overseas offices. This role plays a vital role in effective management of receivables and unallocated cash balances and contributes to better financial reporting and informed decision making.

About the role

The role is for a Collections team member dedicated to achieving mínimal overdue receivables and unallocated cash in relation to insurance premiums. This role deals with both internal and external customers and involves taking the best course of action to resolve discrepancies and action queries.

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract.

What you need to know

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

- Investigate reconciling and resolving payment discrepancies
- Credit Control - Coordination and preparation of monthly cancellation letters for brokers
- Perform cash allocations ensuring unallocated cash is kept within corporate requirements
- Reconciliation of inter-company accounts receivable transactions and assist with credit control of inter-company balances.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with colleagues, other AIG personnel, clients, brokers, sponsors, and other external parties Embrace a learning culture and environment and identify / communicate areas of improvement
- Provide support for any ad-hoc tasks as directed by your manager
- Assist with the development of training material specific to process or technical as required

What we’re looking for:

- Previous experience in Credit, Collections or Customer Service is preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent Computer Skills, with intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
- Experience in dealing with various stakeholders including senior leaders, peers and other staff
- Analytical & Problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work well with others as well as work autonomously when required
- Able to balance numerous tasks and meet deadlines; possess excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- Flexible and adaptable
