We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to join the team on a fixed term basis. This busy team is responsible for a variety of tasks such as regular payment runs across multiple ledgers, consolidated invoices, recurring invoices, foreign currency payments, and tax payments.
The Senior Finance Operations Officer will use their significant skills and experience in finance operations to support the AP team with the more complex processes and transactions. Reporting to the Finance Operations Team Lead, you will provide 2IC support, training and mentoring to the team.
With your extensive finance operations experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will identify opportunities for process improvements and support the team through an extensive change programme, whilst continuing to provide a high standard of service and consistency of delivery.
You will need to demonstrate agility and resilience as the MBIE, the team and ways of working are constantly evolving.

- A minimum of three years’ experience in a government finance operations team, preferably accounts payable
- Strong experience and understanding of accounts payable processes and controls in a large and complex organisation
- Demonstrated experience assisting a Team Leader with management of the teams' workflows and assign queries to the appropriate team member according to skill level and knowledge
- Enthusiasm for and experience with continuous improvement
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving ability through analytical skills and sound judgement
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships, trust, and credibility with a wide range of audiences
- Good understanding of operating in a customer-focused environment with the ability to communicate information in a clear and logical manner
- Excellent eye for detail and accuracy
- Experience with Technology 1 or similar FMIS
- Resilience to work in a constantly evolving work environment
- Known for their integrity, and taking responsibility for their own actions
- Must consent to and satisfactorily complete a credit check
