**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Group Manager, Local Commissioning leads the team (in partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora) responsible for the effective design and implementation of place-based planning, partnering with IMPBs, health providers, wider social sector funders and providers, local government, and communities. The Local Commissioning team also holds the generalist contract relationships with providers via the Senior Locality Managers and leads local system integration programmes of work through the work of the clinical Integrators. They are responsible for ensuring outcomes that radically improve Māori Health and eliminate inequities are achieved across the network of services within their locality.

**This role is based in the Northern Region, which is made up of Northland, Waitematā, Auckland and Counties Manukau. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**

- A relevant tertiary or professional qualification
- Demonstrated experience in system and service design.
- Demonstrated experience in health service funding and procurement and provider oversight.
- Demonstrated experience in place-based planning and collective impact approaches.
- Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes, including financial outcomes, and develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders.
- The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
