**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

Local planning is a feature of the reformed health system and will play an important role in the primary and community healthcare, the wider health system, and in social sector integration. The Local Planning Manager reports to the Group Manager, Local Commissioning and is responsible for leading and supporting the locality planning functions for the Central region. The Local Planning Manager will hold the leadership for supporting local place-based planning across regions that set out the priority outcomes and services for the local area and give effect to the relevant requirements of Te Pae Tata. Place based planning will be a partnership with Iwi Māori Partnership Boards for the Central region, working with consumers and communities, local authorities and social sector agencies, and other entities that contribute to relevant population outcomes.

**This role is based in the Central Region, which is made up of Mid-Central, Whanganui, Capital & Coast Hutt Valley (Wellington Region), Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa. You will need to be based in the region with the ability to travel around the region as needed. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**
