We are looking for engineers who specialise in land development who have a working knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Building Act and Local Government Act and / or site experience on developments within New Zealand. Experience navigating Auckland’s Unitary Plan and familiarity with Auckland’s Design Manual (land development codes of practice) would be highly advantageous.

Be part of engineering Auckland’s development Regulatory Engineers play a vital role to ensure that when development takes place, supporting infrastructure is designed and built up to standard. We have a vacancy for a land Development Engineer (civil engineer) with the right skills and attitude who wants to join our friendly team to be part of this.

Auckland Council’s Development Engineers provide engineering expertise to Building and Resource Consenting teams and assess the design suitability and adequacy of construction on site for new infrastructure being constructed. We work closely with asset owners including Auckland Transport, Watercare, Healthy Waters and Parks to ensure Auckland’s growth and development will be safe.

From private residential and commercial developments right through to large scale subdivision projects associated with Kainga Ora, we are involved with it all. This role is your chance to use your knowledge and experience to provide engineering advice on development, building consents, engineering approvals and infrastructure works. The scale of this job is large, and it is a fast-paced environment. In a typical year we receive new public assets more than $130m dollars through our engineering approval asset acceptance process.

Being part of a large team of Engineers you will have the opportunity to gain experience and develop your skills with exposure to a wide range of diverse projects and other specialists from within the Council family, the development community and Auckland's most respected consultancies.

You are a skilled engineer with a strong focus on customer service. You have experience co-ordinating stakeholders, communicate, and manage time well, and you like working in a collaborative team environment. You are someone who wants Auckland to be the best it can be.
- A tertiary qualification in civil engineering
- Experience in land development market / civil engineering
- An understanding and knowledge of Resource Management, Building and Local Government Legislation and other issues affecting the delivery of regulatory engineering services
- A customer service mindset
- Desire to collaborate with Māori and within Māori Paradigms
- Advanced interpersonal and relationship skills
